As 2025 marks 10 years since the opening of our data center in Bucharest–Pipera, yesterday we opened the facility to a group of tech journalists. It was more than just a tour: it was an open conversation about who we are today, where we are heading, and the major milestones of this year. Naturally, there were many questions about the Data Center industry, the relationship between electricity consumption and AI usage, the level of interest in cloud and hosting services on the local market, and so on.
Probably the most significant shift we are making in M247’s strategy is our change of focus. The Bucharest data center is now fully occupied, and the natural next step is to drive growth where we see the strongest traction: our global network. In 2024–2025, we invested heavily in time, technology and expansion, and the 55 Points of Presence (PoPs) we operate worldwide now enable much faster international scaling and a strong position in two fast-growing markets: AI inference and IoT. In other words, we are talking about the infrastructure needed for real-time operation of pre-trained AI models, and for the secure, high-performance transport of data between sensors and processing centers.
2025 marks a strategic stage for M247 Global. We expanded our coverage to more than 110 countries, and we estimate revenue growth of 17–18% compared with last year. All operations are coordinated 100% from Romania. Meanwhile, traffic across the M247 Global network increased by 25% this year, and the number of new customers has tripled.
The Bucharest data center, launched 10 years ago, has undergone continuous upgrades and remains a key component of our infrastructure. In 2025, it operated exclusively on renewable electricity and reached a 100% occupancy rate. From here on, our direction is clear: accelerating the global network — over 55 PoPs, edge access in key markets, and minimal latency between any two points in the world.
The M247 global network is not only extensive but also designed for performance: 100–400 Gbps capacity, 99.99% uptime, and direct high-speed connections to the world’s major Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). The infrastructure is optimized specifically for advanced AI and IoT workloads — which explains the 25% traffic growth over the last year.
The M247 Global team now numbers 90 specialists, and from Bucharest we manage customers in more than 110 countries. 2025 has been a year of energetic expansion: we added new PoPs in Helsinki, Atlanta, and Chicago to optimize delivery of colocation, cloud and connectivity services. The next step? Entering the African market with a new PoP in Johannesburg, planned for early 2026.
“We have strengthened our position in international markets thanks to investments in a high-performance global network, which has become our main differentiator. We expect revenue growth of around 17–18%, and one of the standout achievements of 2025 is attracting three times more new customers than last year. This is a direct result of combining our modernized cloud infrastructure with local access through more than 55 Points of Presence. Both the infrastructure and the M247 Global team are prepared for the major business transformations driven by the AI revolution,” said Alexandru Băloi, Managing Director of M247 Global, during yesterday’s discussion with journalists.
Over the 10 years of presence in Romania, M247’s footprint has expanded significantly, reaching revenues of over €30 million in 2024. The initial seven-figure investment in the neutral data center in Pipera laid the foundation for an infrastructure that today allows M247 Global to deliver advanced hosting, colocation, dedicated servers, and high-performance connectivity services to customers worldwide.
Looking ahead, we will continue to invest both in expanding network coverage and in AI inference processes. This is where our core role becomes very clear: we provide the critical infrastructure — cloud, GPU servers, edge computing and a global network — that enables companies to extract real value and quickly recover their AI investments.
